REPAVING US301/Washington Blvd - Summer 2026
?Summer 2026?: Future Repaving US301/Washington Blvd between Mound Street and 10th Street. Project includes (among many other things) adding a pedestrian crossing light at South Payne Parkway, a.k.a. Alderman Street, across to Senior Friendship Center, on the north side of the Mound/Washington 41/301 mega-intersection. Resurfacing, Restoration, and Rehabilitation (RRR) of approximately one mile of SR 683/ US 301 from US 41 to south of 10th Street. The project will include improvements to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The project also includes upgrades to pavement markings and signage, pedestrian signals and detectors at signalized intersections.
What to expect during construction?
• Roadway paving will be performed at night to minimize inconvenience.
• There will be no complete road closures.
• Temporary lane closures will occur during non-peak hours.
• Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the duration of the project with only short-term detours.
• Access to businesses, residences, and bus stops will be maintained.
• Upgrades include a “Do Not Block” pavement message at Adams Lane: "Don't Block the Box."
• One SIGNALIZED midblock crossing near South Payne Parkway.
• The other existing midblock crossing near 6th Street will be upgraded with Rapid Flashing Beacons.
