?Summer 2026?: Future Repaving US301/Washington Blvd between Mound Street and 10th Street. FDOT Public meeting was held August 19 2025. Project includes adding a pedestrian crossing light at South Payne Parkway, a.k.a. Alderman Street, across to Senior Friendship Center, north side of that pedestrian-horrible Mound/Washington intersection. School Zone automatic traffic speed cameras have been installed in 2025 near Sarasota High and Alta Vista Elementar: Speed enforcement cameras in Safety Zones on school days WILL automatically ticket you ($100) if you speed in the posted school zones. Speeders beware!
Sarasota/Manatee MPO 2045 Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)
The Sarasota-Manatee 2045 Long-Range Transportation Plan addresses everything throughout the region — roads, bicycles, pedestrians, trails, transit, parking, railroads and airports, and it does so for every municipality in the two-county region. "Transform 2045"
MPO 2025: On Jan 6, 2025 City Commission Meeting agenda, discussion of Metropolitan Planning Organization short- and long-term priorities for road, street, sidewalk, paths projects. This is annual PLANNING for projects, which may change from year to year; most are not a done deal at this stage. In our neighborhood, items to note are the Shade Ave complete streets project, a pedestrian crossing of US301/Washington Blvd at Alderman Street, and traffic signal improvements at many intersections (i.e. on Bahia Vista). Sarasota In Motion: Citywide Transportation Master Plan
Citywide Transportation Master Plan was presented at the June 10 2020 Planning Board meeting; see City webpage, Meetings, to view backup documents.
At the May 18 2020 City Commission meeting, a presentation of the top 10 Citywide Transportation Master Plan projects was made. Three of these DIRECTLY touch on our neighborhood: improved trails (Ringling Blvd bikeway), core transit improvements (Washington Blvd), and Shade Ave complete street. The presentation is viewable from City web page for May 18 City Commission meeting; agenda; backup documents.
At an earlier stage, on March 10, 2020, the project team narrowed things down and presented a list of top 10 potential projects and policy recommendations at public workshops.
